Pacemaker is a collection of a month’s worth of posts consumed.
Forcing myself to screenshot every post on my ‘for you page’, it distracted me from overthinking, bittersweet rollercoaster of scrolling, numbing my brain.
A substantial sculpture of a publication project, pacemaker is a heavy, finnicky, overwhelming project
in the same way a pacemaker aids in survival, the attention-hoarding apps and phones helped me ease my pain by keeping myself occupied, but not enough to keep me away from moping about in my room, crying from the breakup. In its own twisted cycle, I would be bombarded from funny monkey posts, then an emotional video of a father giving his daughter away on her wedding day, then a realtor estate advertisement. All in the span of a mere 30 seconds.
