In a time of constant visual bombardment and cross-pollination, this publication is an attempt to fossilise and critique fleeting media we have grown accustomed to.
Manifested as a printed object, embodied to question the format of a magazine, a book, and what genres written and visual material belong to, and how they’re perceived.
This is a push to further digest and examine how we consume media - Along with how subliminally it seeps into our views on self-identity, and the ways we communicate both visually and linguistically with each other.
STERLING WONGCHOI stands to further poke and prod the subtleties of these relationships through challenging the conventions of visual culture, aiming to provide itself as a bridge between the East and West, rather than opting for demonisation or fetishization in the current political climate, using humour and visual language to investigate the absurdities between the two.
